Justin Timberlake has confirmed that the photo he took with The Weeknd a few weeks back was more than just a ‘magical‘ photo op.
The “Can’t Stop The Feeling” teased a potential collab with Weeknd, telling BBC 1Xtra this morning (May 11) that he’s been in the studio with the singer, working on a song that could make the latter’s next album.
“Abel and I have been talking about doing a collab soon,” said Timberlake, before adding that possible track could “maybe” end up on Weeknd’s LP.
“He’s working on an album right now,” Timberlake said. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that, did I just mess up something? He’s always in the studio anyway.”
Weeknd recently told Vogue that he has reunited with the producers from his seminal House of Balloons for work on the follow-up to Beauty Behind the Madness. In the said article, the feature story’s editor notes: “The Weeknd purists will be pleased to hear that he’s in the studio with the House of Balloons team again. ‘But it’s a new thing,’ Tesfaye assures me. ‘Always a new thing.’”
As far as his own project, JT revealed he himself will be returning to Justified mainstay Pharrell Williams, as well as his go-to beatsmith Timbaland on the follow-up to 2013’s The 20/20 Experience. He also noted that the previous photos of himself in the studio with P and Timbo were unrelated to the “Trolls” soundtrack.
In the meantime, Timberlake’s latest form of new music appears on the single “Can’t Stop The Feeling,” which was written for the soundtrack to “Trolls.”
