Get ready to jam… again.

After years of whispers and speculation, The Hollywood Reporter is confirming that a sequel to the 1996 Looney Tunes-and-Michael Jordan galactic basketball flick, “Space Jam,” is happening, with none other than two-time NBA champion LeBron James.

Warner Bros. announced the sequel back in 2014, with Charlie Ebersol on board to produce. In the same year, James was quoted as saying, “I’ve always loved “Space Jam.” It was one of my favorite movies growing up.” Since then, the Cleveland Cavaliers star received rave reviews for his performance in the Judd Apatow comedy “Trainwreck,” where he played a version of himself. And while James’ involvement comes as no surprise to anyone who has been keeping tabs, a new update reveals the sequel will be helmed by filmmaker Justin Lin, who recently signed up for the job.

Lin made his directorial debut with the 2002 feature, “Better Luck Tomorrow,” but made his name during his seven-year run as the director of the “Fast & Furious” franchise. For his work between “The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift” and “Furious 6,” Lin received praise for revamping the franchise and shepherding it to the height it currently sits, so it should ease the worries that come with long-gestating sequels.

From the looks of THR‘s exclusive reveal, it appears that Lin and writer Andrew Dodge are ready to get the ball rolling on the film, and is likely to begin shooting once the NBA 2015-2016 season is over.

A release date for the film has not been set.
