LOS ANGELES, CA—Leading up to the release of their new album, I Remember, (the follow up to 2013’s pop-perfect debut Body Music), I’ve been using AlunaGeorge’s sophomore LP title to revisit just why the duo continues to spark euphoria with the press of a play button.

I remember…hearing “You Know You Like It” and realizing their production power and potential. (Side note: That single was released as a digital download exactly four years ago to the day 4/20/2012. #IRemember).

I remember … crying to “Your Drums Your Love” because aren’t we all just “treading water for your love whether [we] sink or swim….

I remember.. having the duo call into my then radio show for their first call-up interview and hearing the excitement and motivation in their dialogue.

So to witness AlunaGeorge in a live setting at LA’s El Rey Theatre last night (April 19) sent me in a flood of memorable emotions.

Kicking of with “Attracting Flies,” the Aluna Francis-led three piece then flew through the Zhu-assisted “Automatic,” their big break/Disclosure feature “White Noise” and a host of new material, including title track “I Remember” (which gets a nod from Flume on the official recorded version).

Biggest two moments of the night?

The first after-chorus boom in “I’m in Control,” which mind you is THE song of the year/summer (jockeying for position with Drake’s “One Dance” but pro-DJ tip…they blend perfectly together so…do that).

The second? Leaving us hanging without having played “You Know You Like It”… but wait. IT WAS THE ENCORE.

Solid showcase of the AlunaGeorge catalog and yes, yes…I remember where they’ve been, see where they are headed and I don’t ever want to forget.
