UPDATE: Top Dawg says new TDE project dropping this week.
TDE’s 2016 release schedule features a heavy-duty lineup.
“Shit about to get nasty real soon,” wrote label founder and CEO Top Dawg in an Instagram post teasing the upcoming album releases from his roster.
In addition to revealing two new artists on the fold, written as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 in the photo, the IG clip teases albums from ScHoolboy Q, SZA, Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and (possibly) Kendrick Lamar. The latter, who has LeBron James and the rest of the world begging for a proper release of his “Untitled” series, has a question mark written by his name in the post along with a message that Top Dawg needs to hop on the phone with the Grammy Award-winning rapper.
As far as updates on Q’s highly anticipated album, the project currently appears to be in the sample clearances stage. Meanwhile projects from SZA and Isaiah Rashad remain in fourth and third creative stages, respectively. Ab-Soul’s These Days… follow-up is in mixing mode, while Jay Rock’s new LP looks like it has yet to resume its process, seeing as how the rapper is on the road to recovery following a motorcycle accident.
A Black Hippy album, which has been long-awaited and much-anticipated for years, also appears on the schedule, however its listed for 2017 (and a “Praying” message for added measure).
