From the Golden Globes to the Super Bowl to her show-stopping tribute performance at the Grammy’s earlier this month, Lady Gaga has been on fire since 2016 started. And last night (February 28) was no different. Not only was she nominated for an Oscar for her original song “Til It Happens to You,” but she gave an unforgettable performance at the Academy Awards that many will never forget.

“Til It Happens to You” is from the Oscar-nominated documentary “The Hunting Ground” and was co-written by Diane Warren. The documentary focused on the recent sexual assault attacks on American college campuses.

Gaga’s performance was introduced by Vice President Joe Biden, who addressed the issue and urged Americans to take action against it. A group of sexual assault survivors then joined Gaga on stage as she sang and played the piano, drawing a standing ovation and tears from audience members.

Kesha who has recently been going through a legal battle regarding sexual assault tweeted:

Gaga has been voicing her support regarding Kesha’s legal battle with Sony and Dr. Luke since early last week joining Demi Lavato, Adele and others.

Although “Til It Happens to You” didn’t win an Oscar and lost to “Writings on the Wall,” co-written and sung by Sam Smith, Lady Gaga’s song and performance definitely made an impact on Americans around the world.
