Over the course of President Obama’s seven-plus years in office, he has made no secret of his love for rap music. From speaking with Kendrick Lamar in the oval office to inviting Wale to perform before the State of the Union address, he’s leveraged the state of hip-hop to help his Democratic political reach.
Now, President Obama will be the special guest for a Democratic National Convention fundraiser coming to Austin, TX, where Whurley and Will.i.am will host the event and J. Cole is set to perform. The event is not associated to the annual music and tech festivities of South by Southwest, but will take place on the first day of the festival on March 11.
J. Cole will also be performing at an official SXSW event during a Dreamville takeover on March 21, alongside Bas, Cozz and Omen.
Tickets for the DNC begin at $250 for general admission and go up to $33,400, if you’re trying to co-host for the president. Grab your tickets for the event here.
