Months after the Le Bataclan terror attacks, Eagles of Death Metal returned to Paris for a rare performance. Joined by drummer Josh Homme for a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Brown Sugar,” the band played for the first time since their gig at the venue that was the scene of a massacre in November. Frontman Jesse Hughes was visibly emotional as the band arrived on stage, encouraging a moment of silence before playing their first song.

Survivors from the attacks were given free invitations to the show, as heavy security and 30 psychologists were on hand for the concert.

“It was beautiful,” Homme told CNN.

“It was perfect. Everybody wanted so much to be happy, and they (the band) didn’t leave any time for sadness. It was great. It’s good to forget, just for a moment,” said Floriane Schost, a concertgoer who lost a close friend in the Paris attacks.
