Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz are slowly prepping their collaborative project, ColleGrove.
Announced last year, the joint effort was teased last month on Chainz’ recent mixtape, Felt Like Cappin, and now it’ll get a proper rollout with a performance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
Wayne and Chainz are set to perform the first single, “Rolls Royce Weather Everyday,” off the project on Monday (February 15).
Chainz’ bond with Weezy stretches beyond just rap, as the duo have been making music since their “Duffle Bag Boy” collaboration appeared on 2006’s Da Drought 3. In a 2013 cover story with XXL, Chainz explained his long-standing friendship with Weezy. “My ni——a, Tunechi. That’s my ni——a. If it wasn’t for Tunechi, I wouldn’t be here. If it wasn’t for Lil Dwayne Carter, Tauheed Epps wouldn’t be here right now. I’ve been around a lot of things and so many situations, and if it wasn’t for bruh, I wouldn’t be right here right now.”
A release date has not yet been revealed for ColleGrove.
