Michael B. Jordan won Entertainer of the Year and TV shows black-ish and Empire took home a series of hardward at the NAACP Image Awards last night (February 5).
“I used to sneak into the Image Awards, and now I’m standing here as the entertainer of the year, which is mind-blowing,” Jordan, who also won Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture, said during a stirring speech.
Actor Anthony Anderson served as the MC for the evening and celebrated throughout the night as black-ish topped most of the TV comedy categories, including the host’s win for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Empire, however, did just as well, winning Outstanding Drama and both leads, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, were winners in the actor categories. The Wiz Live!, Steve Harvey and Don Cheadle were also television winners.
The N.W.A. biopic earned the Outstanding Motion Picture award and Ryan Coogler nabbed an Outstanding Director win. Pharrell and Jill Scott were music winners.
