Let’s play a game. Where can you find CeeLo Green, DJ Khaled, Machine Gun Kelly and, especially, Yo Gotti? If you guessed the DM…you’re right!
Yo Gotti recently gave REVOLT behind-the-scenes access to his star-studded “Down in the DM” music video shoot in Downtown Los Angeles and the visuals are anything besides what we expected. The clip involves a wedding and many of the artists are groomsmen who can’t stay out of their direct messages. CeeLo plays the minister who tries to keep the festivities running smoothly.
When we caught up with Yo Gotti he explained “I wanted to show the life of the DM, but in a creative way. It’s a wedding and everyone is going to the bathroom and sneaking off to check their DM’s, even the groom. Even in some of the most important environments people are still dipping off in the phone.”
Other artists, including Ty Dolla $ign and Slim Jimmy of Rae Sremmurd, came out to support Gotti’s video. When we asked everyone why it was important for them to come out and show love they all noted that the Memphis rapper is real and they wouldn’t miss it.
We asked Gotti how he felt about that and he said: “Being real is just being real with yourself first and being genuine with people and not only rocking with people when you need them. Anyone who knows me knows that I’ll be the same person with one dollar or one-hundred-million dollars and that’s why they rock with me.”
