A$AP Ferg Explains Bridging Passion For Art & Fashion In Adidas Collection
“I was born to do this,” Ferg tells REVOLT.
Beyond a firebrand member of the A$AP Mob faction, A$AP Ferg is a multi-faceted creative.
More than the energy evinced on stage and the wild rhymes that erupt from the speakers, the Harlem-native is an artist in the truest form. Picking up after his father, the late Darold Ferguson, Ferg’s roots in both fashion and design run deep, and this is something that’s been revealed through past collaborations with BAPE, Syracuse University, Fancy, and most recently Adidas.
“I was put here to do this,” Ferg tells REVOLT about his designing skill.
This past November, the “New Level” rapper was enlisted by Adidas to present the world with the Traplord x Adi-Ease collection, featuring a series of T-shirts and two colorways of the Adi-Ease sneaker. The collaborative drop was released in honor of the late A$AP Yams.
“The collaboration with adidas came about early, when I was going to meetings with [A$AP] Rocky, my manager introduced us to the brand and they loved the brand A$AP and they wanted to see what was next. They was looking at me, studying the brand, and seeing my aesthetic and they fell in love with it and they made that call… and we made it happen.”
“What y’all see is not half of what I wanted to do,” Ferg rapper added. “I wanted to do so much, I wanted to bring the whole world at one time, but it’s definitely something that I’m very proud of.”
“Adidas is more like a family, more than anything, because they allowed me to use their platform to bring great art into the world.”
Pieces from Ferg’s Trap Lord collection can still be found at Adidas. And as far as music goes, Ferg’s sophomore album is set to arrive next month.
