When asked about his sound and style, Chicago-bred multi-talent Towkio, real name Preston Oshita, has difficulty explaining his artistry because his musical influences vary from house to hip hop to rock and beyond. His eclectic vibe is translated best through his music and validated by his debut solo project .WAV Theory released in 2015. Known for being a prominent member of Chi-town collective, Savemoney – spearheaded by his friends and indie hip hop staples Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa – Towkio’s gaining swift buzz as an artist in his own right and he’s using the positive critiques to begin work on a follow-up project.

While in Los Angeles for some studio time with none other than the legendary Rick Rubin, the budding star dropped by REVOLT to reflect on his childhood in Chicago, linking with Chance, Vic and the Savemoney crew, the drastic fabrication of the film Chi-Raq, the evolution of hip hop and an exclusive announcement of the title of his forthcoming sophomore project.
