Will Beats 1 have siblings soon? Maybe. Apple has filed for trademark protection on behalf of the company for Beats 2-5 and also abbreviated versions, such as B2, according to legal documents. The move follows a report earlier this year about plans for expansion to the popular 24/7 internet radio station, which would see a number of sister stations broadcast programming.
The filing was first unearthed by French outlet, Consomac, but as Billboard noted trademark protection is sometimes just that: protection. The tech titan could simply aiming to stop competitors and imitators from starting Beats 2, for instance.
