There’s only be a few weeks left of the year and J. Cole isn’t done yet.
Last night (December 6), the rapper took to Twitter to post the cryptic phone number 1-888-88-DREAM, as did his Dreamville members Bas, Omen, Elite and Cozz. Prompting followers to dial-in, fans were greeted with a voicemail from Cole telling a “yo momma” joke and that the mailbox was full, but a few lucky callers were able to get through and chat with him and his manager.
As for day-one-fans, many recalled the phone number was initially featured on the Dreamville compilation Revenge of the Dreamers, which dropped January 2014.And as expected, the campaign was a point to a sequel releasing on December 11. The nine-track project from Cole and his companions, including the recently released song “Night Job,” is available for pre-order on iTunes.
The announcement came just ahead of the 2016 Grammy nominations, where the North Carolina native was honored for Best Rap Album for 2014 Forest Hills Drive and Best Rap Performance for “Apparently.” Along with J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming, a 90-minute special airing on HBO January 9.
