The highly-anticipated 2Pac biopic has been long in development. But after two lawsuits and three directors, it might finally see the light of day—if production starts soon.
After two long years, Morgan Creek has been resilient through legal battles and the such, but now time is closing in on the company. According to The Hollywood Reporter, music rights will revert back to Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, by the end of the year if the film isn’t produced by then.
Reports, however, suggest the company is moving forward with the project despite this batch of obstacles. Music video and commercial director Benny Boom, who directed 50 Cent’s “Just A Lil Bit,” has been tapped as the latest director of the film.
“I am blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime,” Boom wrote on Instagram next to a picture of ‘Pac. “Telling the story of this revolutionary, artist, visionary, genius, soldier! I will make him proud and uphold the legacy.”
Boom follows the likes of Carl Franklin, John Singleton, and Antoine Fuqua who respectively took a stab at the project before removing themselves.
