On the heels of releasing his 8th solo album, Black Market, Rick Ross is poised and focused as ever. Renzel, as Ross likes to affectionately call himself, prepped your palate for Black Market two months ago by releasing Black Dollar. Tracks like “Money Dance” and “Icon” set the tone for the street doctrine of self empowerment and progression, which is in abundance on the new set.

Like an elder statesman closing out a chapter in his life, Black Market is Ross’ final album under his deal with Def Jam. Rozay has delivered a finished product that represents the manifestation of “Hustlin”: from bagging work to running an empire, The Untouchable Maybach Music Group.

Ross invited media to the Sonos Sound Studio to experience Black Market last week. Once the Bellaire started flowing, he candidly introduced the album, while sitting on a throne. (Classic Rozay)

“Young Renzel in the muthafucka, ya feel me? Yeah, I like when it feels like we in the club,” he told the gathered audience. “I’ma keep it real chill… We gonna play a few cuts.”

Following his introduction to the project, Rozay played a few cuts and, here, REVOLT has a preview of the new tracks.

“Free Enterprise” Feat. John Legend

This record sounds like “Glory” on Wall Street. John Legend’s soulful sound coupled with Ross’ glorious lyrics are the perfect way to set the tone for the album.

“Smile Mamma, Smile” Feat. Cee Lo Green

This track is a heart-to-heart with Ross’ mother, where he opens up about his Promethazine use and vows to make her proud. Cee Lo Green on the vocals evokes the emotion of in the track.

“D.O.P.E.” Feat. Future

This track was one of my personal favorites. Ross had bop with his “Money Dance” on this joint.

“Bag full of purp/ Cup full of Syrup, run up get merked/ I got 12 on my wrist it’s Audemar.”

Call that the new trapper’s anthem.

“One of Us” Feat. Nas

You already know when Ross and Esco team up it’s an instant classic and this track does not disappoint.

“ Dope Dick”

On this track Ross might be taking a jab at Champagne Papi with the line “No shots, but I write all my raps.”

The Bawse later took a moment to address the crowd with this statement: “On some real language shit I just wanted to keep it real intimate, real personal. As you can see, I got my homie Future on it, I got Chris Brown on the album. As you can see Cee Lo Green on the album, I did an incredible record with Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige gave me some soulful shit as well.”
