It’s one thing for Blur to surprise fans with a reunion LP this year, and it’s another to follow with a upcoming documentary on how it all came to the surface.
Titled New World Towers, the point-of-view film revolves around a pair of Blur gigs at London’s Hyde Park and a Hong Kong show, as well as their decision to initiate recording on their latest LP The Magic Whip. Releasing a new clip ahead of the theater premiere, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon discuss uniting as a band on and off the stage and how performing continues to tighten their bond.
“All of us become Blur when we are onstage. We leave ourselves at the side of the stage, and return back into ourselves when we leave the stage,” Albarn said. “While we are onstage, we are Blur. We are Blur.”
The Sam Wrench-directed New World Towers will screen for one night only in UK cinemas on December 2, with an international release set to follow. Watch the clip below and check out the participating theaters viz Blur’s website.
