Chauncey Hollis better known as Hit-Boy has truly arrived as a solo artist. Last week in front of LA’s entertainment brain trust Hit performed tracks off his latest sonic offering Zoomin’. If Travis Scott is Kanye’s Yeezus offspring, Hit-Boy’s backpacker raps and soulful beats are definitely reminiscent of that College Dropout vibe.

The atmosphere of the listening event reminded me of a studio jam session among close friends. Hit was center stage rocking the MPC with a live band backing him, where he flowed effortlessly through a myriad of tracks off his Zoomin’ EP with stand our tracks like “Bussin Moves,” which featured a live performance from one of hip-hop’s most coveted pen men Quintin Miller and “Absurd (May 21st)” featuring Gizzle, who flips the flow on this track like a chef whipping yola.

Overall Zoomin’ is a very sonically-cohesive project with the right features to really open your palette for what is coming next from the HS87 camp.

Take a listen to the project, here.
