Dan Auerbach’s new band, the Arcs, extend their material for a six-track, limited edition recording with veteran songwriters Dr. John and Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo. Out November 27 as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday event, The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol.1, will be pressed on a 10-inch LP, as the first in an ongoing collaborative series.

“Sometimes the best way to see into the future is to study the past,” Auerbach said in a statement announcing the project. “In this series, we do both, collaborating with folks who have been in the game a long time but instead of rehashing old material, we collaborate on new works, explore new ideas and introduce each other to a different generational perspective. We’ll continue in this series to track down our heroes and bug them until they agree to make some noise with us. Hopefully we learn a thing or two. Yours, Dreamily.”

The project will feature a cross between New Orleans jazz-funk legend Dr. John, and a mariachi-rock band sound from Los Lobos guitarist Hidalgo, with a coat of Auerbach’s blues-grassroots vocals. The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol.1 will be available digitally December 11,and will follow the Arcs debut LP Yours, Dreamily, in September. Check out the tracklist and first tour run dates below.
