Blur guitarist Graham Coxon was on Reddit yesterday for one of the site’s ever popular AMA series, answering a variety of questions from the userbase.

One of the comments was from user Loreal217 who asked: “How about Country Sad in NYC? How about Battery In Your Leg in NYC? How about Blue Blue Jeans in NYC? I can’t make puppets or weave or anything, is that ok?” (Loreal’s request was for the band to play some of their songs that are rarely featured in concert.)

Coxon replied: “i love playing country sad ballad man… but i don’t see a time when it will be played any time soon…”

It seemed like that was the end, until another user noticed that Coxon and the band did, in fact, play the song “Country Sad Ballad Man” at their show in Mexico city that very night.

“Country Sad Ballad Man” is on the band’s 1997 release, the self-titled “Blur.” Last night marked the first time that song had been performed live since 2000—15 years ago.
