Remember when Drake was an actor?

In case you forgot, the rap superstar was once known as wheelchair Jimmy from Degrassi, starring in the Canadian television show from 2001-2005. While he’s gone on to much greater things in the music world, many still think back fondly on the Toronto native’s acting days.

In a new interview with W magazine, the 28-year-old explained that his exit from the show wasn’t entirely his decision.

“Back then, I’d spend a full day on set and then go to the studio to make music until 4 or 5 a.m. I’d sleep in my dressing room and then be in front of the cameras again by 9 a.m. Eventually, they realized I was juggling two professions and told me I had to choose.”

While you could see how Drake could have become a good actor if he had continued down that path, it looks like he made the right choice.

In case you missed it, the “Hotline Bling” rapper actually caught up with his Degrassi cast-mates for a mini reunion back in August at the premiere for the screening of the new web comedy series “We Are Disorderly.”
