Typically, the music that Devon Welsh and Matthew Otto make as Majical Cloudz tends to skew more on the eerie, emo side. But a video for their new single “Downtown” brings a little light and a playful streak to their work. Shot entirely in a shadowy black-and-white backdrop, Welsh sings, “Nothing you say will ever be wrong,” adding, “cause it just feels good being in your arms.”

It’s a muted grey matter of emotions that resonates in a new introduction from their last album Impersonator, where it took the lead on a raw, vulnerable feel.
