Brittany Howard, the golden-voiced frontwoman of the Alabama Shakes, has wasted no time following up to the group’s remarkable new record, Sound and Color.
Releasing a surprise 10-track self-titled LP, Howard debuted her new fittingly confident moniker: Thunderbitch. She’s joined by members of the bands Fly Golden Eagle and Clear Plastic Masks, the album is currently streaming for free on their website, while a vinyl copy is available for $15 via the Alabama Shakes’ merch shop.
Following the head-thunderbitch-in-charge, the website lists the band members as: Matt Man, B Bone, Char Man, A Man, and ThunderMitch, with a bio reading, “Thunderbitch. Rock’n’roll. The end.” What else do you need to know?
The band also offered up a presumptuous promo clip featuring the opening moments of the album cut “Heavenly Feeling.” It’s an intermittent strum of nothing short from what you’d expect from a powerhouse blues singer named Thunderbitch.
