The holidays aren’t even around the corner, but Hollywood is already making room for gifts under its money tree.

Yesterday (September 17), it was reported that Mariah Carey has been tapped to star in and direct a Christmas movie for The Hallmark Channel, titled “Melody & Mistletoe.” Now, the latest big name expected to star in a holiday-themed flick is Ice Cube, who landed the lead role in a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

According to Deadline, “Humbug” will be directed by Tim Story (“Ride Along”) with Cube playing the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in a contemporary retelling of the classic tale. The modern version will feature Cube playing a wealthy real estate mogul, who is shown a path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

The film is expected to arrive for Christmas 2017.
