James Holmes, the Colorado gunman who fired on a movie theater and killed 12 innocent victims, was sentenced to life in prison today (August 26).

According to the Associated Press, Judge Carlos Samour characterized Holmes as an angry quitter who was filled with hatred and turned to mayham.

“It is almost impossible to comprehend how a human being is capable of such acts,” Samour said.

Earlier this month, Holmes was found guilty after more than 100 survivors of the 2012 shooting testified about their pain in the aftermath of the tragic event.
