Nicki Minaj paid homage to her Trinidadian roots with a nod to her native island’s Carnival tradition. The Pinkprint MC took the stage at Sunday night’s MTV VMA’s donning a red and gold feathered headdress and matching outfit, while performing “Trini Dem Girls.” Her popping and gyrating was expected although, the artist who joined her later in her performance, was not. Towards the end of Minaj’s ‘Night Is Still Young,’ Taylor Swift descended onto the stage in a matching red dress. The two then seamlessly moved into the refrain of ‘Bad Blood,’ offering a wink at the recent back-and-forth between the two publicly.
