Teyana Taylor has returned and she’s taking it back to the golden era. Late last night (August 25), the singer and actress dropped her follow-up to 2014’s VII with The Cassette Tape 1994, a short but sweet 5 track mixtape all inspired by the sounds of the ’90s.
This mixtape is flooded with evocative sounds reminiscent of the moment hip-hop and R&B merged to make some of today’s top classics, including 702’s debut song “Steelo” and the Bell Biv DeVoe hit “Poison”. Teyana’s boo, the Cleveland Cavalier’s Iman Shumpert, joins in on the fun, jumping on “Who’s Gonna Make It Home,” to rap about loving on his main thang. The 24-year-old songstress holds nothing back when it comes to her music and her man. The two have been dating for over a year and share their love and affection with cute Instagram posts all the time.
Taylor’s mixtape gets a little risque near the end, with steamy cuts like “Undercover” and “Touch Me,” where she expresses intimate thoughts enough to make a grown man blush.
Look forward to seeing Teyana “The Princess of Harlem” on the “One Hell of A Night” tour with Chris Brown, Fetty Wap, Kid Ink, and Omarion. For now, take a listen to Teyana’s nostalgic vibes below. #GirlPower
