Ladies took over stages across the country this weekend, from Lorde joining Flume on stage at FYF to Rihanna’s impromptu Kanye duet to Ms. Lauryn Hill holding down Ms. Nina Simone’s legacy at AfroPunk. And if you weren’t able to be in Los Angeles or Brooklyn for the shows, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Lorde surprised both the audience and her friend Flume at the FYF Fest in L.A. this weekend by sneaking on stage while watching the super-producer’s set. She took to IG (so you know it’s real) and wrote “I had never seen Harley play live before, so I went down to FYF tonight to watch his set and he basically played an awesome tennis court remix and I kinda got peer pressured into sneaking onstage and surprising him for a dance party in front of 20,000 people.” That is a pretty great surprise and a pretty great friend!
When @lordemusic joins @flumemusic on stage at @FYFFEST, it’s a surprise dance party with all the feels. #FYFFEST pic.twitter.com/2fkhXnM3GR

Racks on Racks on Racks…of guests are joining Taylor Swift on her 1989 World Tour and this weekend in L.A. her squad got as big as her music. She couldn’t properly shut down the Staples Center without bringing out Kobe Bryant. She not only surprised fans with the Lakers superstar, but Kobe turned around and surprised her by presenting the pop titan with her very own “Championship Banner” for selling out the arena as many times as the Lakers have won championships. Impressive!
T-Swizzle also brought out Mary J. Blige and Orange Is The New Black cast member Uzo Aduba, just to name a few. Taylor has been making sure to bring out the hometown hero no matter whose hometown she is in. She served up Fetty Wap in New Jersey and Russell Wilson in Seattle. You have to admit, the girl is a clever and clearly lot of connections.
Lastly, Ms. Lauryn Hill did us so much justice when she recently covered many of Miss Nina Simone’s classic tracks for the Netflix documentary “What Happened, Miss Simone?” Well, she went one step further this weekend when she headlined Brooklyn’s AfroPunk Festival. L-Boogie and her band remixed a few classics from her Unplugged and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill albums and even performed works from her tribute album to Nina Simone. Other ladies who stole the stage at Afropunk were: SZA, Kelis and Lion Babe. Yassssss.
