Attorney Ben Crump — who represents Breonna Taylor’s family — says he expects charges will be filed against the officers involved in her death, following a meeting with the Kentucky Attorney General yesterday (Aug. 12).

“After meeting with [Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron] and [Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer], we expect charges WILL be filed against those who killed Breonna Taylor,” Crump tweeted on Thursday (Aug. 13).

Crump was one of several people in yesterday’s meeting, which also included Taylor’s family, their other lawyers and a local activist. In a statement shared to WAVE 3 News after the meeting, Taylor’s mother Tamika Palmer said she was “more confident that the truth will come out and that justice will be served.”

“I’m glad the attorney general asked for this meeting,” she said. “He actually seemed sincere and genuine, which I appreciated. We let him know how important it was for their office to get all the facts, to get the truth and to get justice for Breonna. We all deserve to know the whole truth behind what happened to my daughter. The attorney general committed to getting us the truth. We’re going to hold him up to that commitment.”

Taylor’s case has prompted protests in Louisville and around the world, calls-to-action from NBA and WNBA players and statements from celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé.

“At the end of the day, we have to bridge the community and the police,” Palmer added. “That starts with the truth and justice. And we have to make real changes to keep this from happening to anyone else. The attorney general didn’t say which direction he’s pointing to, and I could be wrong, but after meeting him today I’m more confident that the truth will come out and that justice will be served.”
