Future is continuing to use his FreeWishes Foundation to offer a helping hand amidst the pandemic. On Wednesday (July 8) the High Off Life rapper announced his “I’m Still a Dreamer” scholarship for incoming college freshmen.

“You don’t have to be in the perfect situation or come from the perfect background to reach for your dreams,” Future said in a press statement. “Despite this COVID-19 pandemic, I encourage all dreamers to continue to dream big,”

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must live in Georgia, have at least a 3.0 GPA and be enrolled in an accredited college for the 2020 fall term. Interested students can apply by submitting a personal video detailing how Coronavirus has affected their lives. The scholarship value ranges up to $2,500.

“We acknowledge that many families have been financially impacted by COVID-19,” Future’s mother Stephanie Jester, who co-founded FreeWishes, added. “As we fast forward into this new climate we would like to continue to make dreams come true and wishes come true.”

Earlier this year, Future used his foundation to donate masks to essential workers in Atlanta and beyond. According to Complex, the rapper’s “Mask On” campaign, which collaborated with local sewing company Atlanta Sewing Style, provided over 100,000 masks to hospitals and other facilities.

“We started seeing stories about doctors saying they had to reuse their masks, and then some were getting infected because they didn’t have the proper equipment. That was alarming to us,” FreeWishes Communications and Brand Strategist Abesi Manyando told Complex. “At first, we were thinking, could we order masks from somewhere? But there were absolutely no masks available—not the specific ones that the healthcare workers needed.”

Applications for Future’s “I’m Still a Dreamer” scholarship are due by July 27 and the winners will be revealed on Aug. 4. One recipient will also be awarded an exclusive “I Am A Dreamer” hoodie. Find out how to apply here and see FreeWishes’ announcement below.
