Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp has expanded their legal defense initiative nationwide as protests continue to erupt throughout the country. The former NFL player shared the news on his social media platforms.

“Thx to your support, we’ve expanded the @yourrightscamp legal defense initiative nationally to defend arrested Freedom Fighters,” he captioned the Instagram post. “We’re also working to file civil rights cases against police for their terroristic acts. Keep fighting back!Link in bio #wegotus.”

Last week, Kaepernick revealed that his organization would cover legal fees for any protesters who were arrested in Minneapolis, following the killing of George Floyd.

“In fighting for liberation there‘s always retaliation,” he tweeted. “We must protect our Freedom Fighters. We started a legal defense initiative to give legal representation to Freedom Fighters in Minneapolis paid for by @yourrightscamp.”

Earlier this week, The Weeknd donated $500,000 to several organizations funding bail relief efforts for protesters. A whopping $200,000 of his donation went to Kaep’s Know Your Rights Camp.

“Keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our Black lives,” the After Hours singer wrote on Instagram. “Urging everyone with big pockets to give and give big and if you have less please give what you can even if it’s a small amount. #blacklivesmatter.”

Kaepernick has been fighting against racism and police brutality since he decided to lead a peaceful protest by kneeling during the National Anthem at his football games. His stance eventually caused him to be blackballed from the league. His Know Your Rights Camp organization was created to help people in underprivileged communities have the same resources and opportunities that other people may have.
