Rayshard Brooks will be laid to rest next Tuesday (June 23) in Atlanta, Georgia. The private service will reportedly be held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church at 1 p.m. (EDT).

“Rayshard was not a member of our church but he, and his loved ones, are a part of our family,” the church’s Senior Pastor Rev. Raphael G. Warnock told Fox 5 Atlanta. “We seek to embrace them, comfort them and walk beside them in the days ahead.”

Earlier this week, Tyler Perry announced he would cover Brooks’ funeral costs as well as college tuition for the late 27-year-old’s four children.

“We do want to acknowledge and thank Tyler Perry, who we spoke with [and] who will be taking care of the funeral for the family,” Brooks’ family’s attorney Chris Stewart said on Monday (June 15). “It’s support like that and it’s people who are actually in this community that love the community, that want healing and families like this to never have to go through something like this, to step forward. And we want to thank him for such a generous move.”

Brooks was fatally shot by ex-Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe on June 12 in a Wendy’s parking lot. On Wednesday (June 17), REVOLT reported that Rolfe had been charged with felony murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for a total of 11 charges. The other officer who had been involved in Brooks’ death, Devin Brosnan, was also charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of violating his oath.

Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Paul Howard said on Wednesday (June 17) that he his office spoke with multiple witnesses at the crime scene and reviewed eight different video recordings from the shooting, including the officers’ body camera footage, Wendy’s surveillance video and cellphone recordings from witnesses. He also revealed that Atlanta officers are required to offer immediate medical attention to anyone who is injured. However, Brooks was denied medical attention for over two minutes after he was shot.
