The pandemic has hit a lot of Americans hard especially financially. Millions of people have lost their jobs and are struggling to pay their bills. Desiigner is doing his part to help ease the financial burden of his tenants during COVID-19.

The “Panda” rapper recently spoke to Forbes and revealed that he is a landlord of multiple properties in New York.

“So, I have to look at all areas of my life and do my part — artists play lots of different roles in communities,” he said. “For example, with housing … I’m a landlord with multiple properties. And some people can’t afford rent right now and I have to hold that. How are you going to be able to live for the next couple months?”

“You gotta take it easy on your tenants, be understanding of what’s possible right now,” Desiigner continued. “I have to take the hits because I also don’t want to see anybody on the street. I can help, so I do.”

The New English rapper just released his new single “SURVIVOR.” A portion of the proceeds for the track will go towards the United Way of NYC’s relief efforts. He also tells the outlet that he plans to continue his relief efforts beyond his song.

“It’s important to me to really help homeless people out here, support the kids when they go back to school,” he said. “There’s so many things we can do right now for the world that it needs. I’m not saying give all your money away — I’ve learned investing is important too — but, we should be helping put in place the things people really need. You know artists won’t be able to tour until like 2021. So, we’ll be innovating ways to give help as well as perform and be in touch with fans.”
