Danielle Curiel, better known by her artist moniker DaniLeigh, is a bright-eyed singer, songwriter and creative disruptor originally hailing from South Florida. While working as a background dancer and collaborating with her sister as part of a duo called Curly Fryz, her undeniable talents and vibrant personality ultimately captured the attention of Prince. The late legend recruited her to direct and appear in the official music video for his 2013 single “Breakfast Can Wait,” helping amplify her creativity to new heights and further solidify her destined calling in the music industry.

After collaborating with The Purple One and taking his expert guidance to heart, DaniLeigh began focusing on developing her artistry as a solo act. She went on to sign with Def Jam, making her hard-earned major label debut in 2017 with the infectious single “Lurkin’.” In the years that have followed, she has worked tirelessly to add a slew of accomplishments under her belt, as well as learned to embrace the self-described simplicity of her voice as one of her strengths.

“Even growing up, I never had the confidence in my voice because I wasn’t a Beyoncé, I wasn’t a Brandy,” she explained candidly to REVOLT TV’s Scottie Beam. “My voice is very simple, but then I started to really train and develop it. People were like, ‘Yo, your tone is just so easy to listen to.’ That’s when I really got in my bag of finding the strongest points of my voice and building that confidence and having my own sound pretty much.”

From releasing her first full-length album, 2018’s The Plan, to honing her craft as a burgeoning songwriter, DaniLeigh has mastered the art of captivating audiences with her hypnotizing voice. On stage, her bedazzling character truly comes to life and her penchant for feeding off a crowd remains one of her strongest assets as a performer.

“I think I just come off as a vibe. Everyone that sees me, they’re like, ‘Yo, your vibe is crazy,’” the 24-year-old says, smiling. “I feel like I’m a motivator. It’s all performance driven. Chris Brown, Beyoncé, J. Lo; they are performers and entertainers. I look at myself in that space.”

From finding inspiration in the festival scene — especially when it comes to building relationships with others — to exerting confidence rooted in exploring her own authentic sound, DaniLeigh’s approach to creativity is a rather simple one: Be consistent.
