The Marathon Continues. Yesterday (Sept. 5), Nipsey Hussle's PUMA collaboration finally arrived. After a few hours of its debut, the collection nearly sold out. While reflecting on Hussle's effort with the project, his longtime partner, Lauren London, shared exclusive behind the scenes footage.
In London's video uploaded to Instagram, Hussle is seen hard at work. There are also scenes of The Victory Lap rapper back in the day, which reflects on how much he's grown throughout the years. "He was really excited about this collection," London wrote. "Nip Hussle The Legend."
Last month, PUMA announced that they were following through with Neighborhood Nip's vision for the collection. The ATL actress posted the collection's release date and an official announcement to her Instagram account.
"Our team is proud to announce that our first collaborative capsule with Puma drops on September 5th 2019," the post begins. "Nipsey spearheaded this project from concept to final product over the course of last year, flying to meetings, reviewing samples, bringing in material references he liked, and most importantly ensuring that it reflected his style authentically with no compromise. Each detail from logo placement, fit, colorways, and materials was thoughtfully done. His signature style and DNA can be found in each garment that's part of this collection from the khaki suit to the tracksuit."
In other Nipsey Hussle-related news, his family launched the Neighborhood Nip Foundation, which will provide his community with opportunities for youth that are looking to get a start in the music industry. Hussle's partner and co-founder of the Marathon Agency, Steve "Steve-O" Carless, said that it's an honor to carry on Hussle's work.
"[Nipsey] was very adamant about being purposeful and intentional and giving back and doing that right where he came from," Carless said. "For us, it's an honor to know we are going to be able to carry that vision on in the future, and we want to make sure it has the fortitude that he had. We're really excited about it, and this is just the first step."
