As the saying goes, good things come to those who wait. Today (Sept. 4), Sony Pictures Entertainment released the highly-anticipated trailer for Bad Boys for Life, which stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

In the Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah-directed film, Lawrence and Smith pick up where they left off in Bad Boys II. In the action-packed three-minute clip, there are scenes of fighting, conversations regarding retirement and the two bad boys themselves promising themselves one last adventure. Alongside Smith and Lawrence, the film also tapped on Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton and more.

Since the release of Bad Boys in 1995 and Bad Boys II in 2003, fans have been begging for a follow-up film. Boths film were proven to be highly successful making over $414.7 million at the box office worldwide. Back in November of 2018, Smith announced on Instagram that fans’ dreams were coming true after all. “It’s official Bad Boys 3 is happening, it’s official,” Smith says in the video.

Back in April, director Joe Carnahan, who was originally on-board to direct the third installment of Lawrence and Smith’s film, explained his decision to step away from the project. Surprisingly, Carnahan admitted that a creative clash with the Aladdin actor made him reevaluate the role.

“I just know myself, man,” he said to Collider. “And I thought what we were doing at that point was the law of diminishing returns. I wasn’t servicing the story that I was really excited about telling, that the studio had greenlit. And again, this isn’t to throw shade at Will — it’s your face on the poster, it’s your name on the poster, you need to do things the way you want them done.”

Bad Boys for Life will hit the big screen on Jan. 17, 2020. In the meantime, check out the trailer starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence below.
