Queen Latifah has landed her next role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress will star as an investigator in When the Street Lights Go On. The series is set to debut on network, Quibi, next year. “When the Street Lights Go On is set in a suburban town that’s rocked by the murder of a young girl. The victim’s sister and friends struggle to find a sense of normalcy while the investigation into the killing hangs over them,” the outlet reports.

The Eddie O’Keefe and Chris Hutton-created series has also tapped on Chosen Jacobs, Sophie Thatcher, Sam Strike, Ben Ahlers and Julia Sarah Stone to star alongside Latifah. The upcoming series will mark Latifah’s return to television since the cancellation of her FOX show, Star. Lee Daniels, the creator of Star, stated that he did everything in his power to keep the show alive.

“OK, so I’ve got some bad news: It ain’t happening,” Daniels said. “I tried my best, guys. You know, we got some incredible people. I mean, I can’t even list everybody. I’ll say it in a letter. But in a nutshell, it ain’t happening. I did my best.”

On a lighter note, Latifah has also secured the role of Ursula in ABC’s live concert version of The Little Mermaid. “‘Fortunately I know a little magic.’ Excited to be a part of The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! #Ursula #TheLittleMermaid#TeamSeaWitch,” she wrote as her Instagram caption.

Throughout her career, Queen Latifah has emphasized the importance of self-love and confidence. While speaking with Tracee Ellis Ross, Queen Latifah spoke about embracing oneself. “I couldn’t be as good a Lil’ Kim as Lil’ Kim could be,” she began. “I couldn’t be as good a Foxy Brown as Foxy could be. But they couldn’t be as good a Latifah as I could be, so it’s about finding your own niche and owning it.”
