Things are looking up.

Kanye West has reached a settlement with music publisher EMI over his record deal.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, ‘Ye and EMI have informed the court of their deal, which will bring an end to the lawsuits filed by both parties. The documents state, “PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Plaintiffs Please Gimme My Publishing, Inc., West Brands, LLC, Kanye West, and Ye World Publishing, Inc. (the “Plaintiffs”) and Defendants EMI April Music, Inc. and EMI Blackwood Music, Inc. (the “Defendants”) (collectively, the “Parties”) have reached an agreement in principle to settle the above-captioned action in its entirety. The Parties expect to draft and finalize a settlement agreement within ninety (90) days.”

Earlier this year, West filed a lawsuit against EMI to which he claimed that their deal was unfair and illegal. West argued that their deal should’ve ended in 2010 and sued for ownership of his music catalog. Shortly after, EMI countersued West for attempting to exit their deal.

Back in March, the Sunday Service creator and EMI stated that they wanted to settle outside of court. Both parties asked for an extension stating that “they wish to explore the potential for a resolution of this action, and believe a stay would benefit the parties and the Court by enabling the parties to engage in meaningful discussions in an attempt to resolve this action without having to incur the burden and expense of litigation and motion practice.”

It’s safe to say that things are looking up for the father-of-four. This Friday (Sept. 27), West will release his 12-track LP, Jesus Is King. ‘Ye confirmed the project during a fundraising event in Batesville, Ind. “Jesus Is King is out Sept. 27, so let’s continue this...” West said into the microphone. In addition to a new album, ‘Ye was dubbed the highest-paid hip hop act by Forbes this year.
