Making a hit record is every music producer’s dream. The “Fresh Produce: Producer Session” panel at the REVOLT Summit x AT&T in Atlanta included judges Drumma Boy, Chubby Baby, and Ray Daniels who are all accredited for introducing the newcomer artists of the music industry. The stars these producers have created music for have garnered Billboard Hot 100 and Grammy award-winning records.
As the trio introduced themselves, the crowd prepared for a firsthand look at creating a chart-topping hit record. The careers of 21 Savage, Future and Ciara have all skyrocketed thanks to Chubby and Daniels. The latter’s resume consists of VP titles at notable record labels including Epic, Interscope, and most recently, Warner Records as the senior vice president.

Producers Tasha Catour, Cheeze Beatz, and Quay Global soon made their way to the stage. Tasha, early on her grind, produced records for Lee Daniel’s hit-series’ “Star.” She is currently working with Keke Palmer as the executive producer for the multi-talented entertainer’s forthcoming project. Cheeze Beatz has made a name for himself by working with Quality Control frontrunners Migos and Cardi B. The producer created the Migos hit “Handsome and Wealthy” along with other platinum records. Also, Beatz produced Cardi B’s Grammy-winning single “Bartier Cardi” featuring 21 Savage. Quay Global is mostly known for his work with newcomer Lil’ Baby, and his chart-topping singles “My Dawg” and “Out The Mud” featuring Future.
Tasha, Cheeze, and Quay took to the AT&T Studio stage and cooked up a beat in 10 minutes. Tasha let the crowd in on a few of her record-making secrets. She explained, “I set up... a template. I don’t know how to do the actual Fruity Loops template, but I [have] one [saved]. They say start up with all [of] my favorite drums, all my favorite presets and shit. And that’s how I did it so quickly.”
After the beats’ completion, artists from the crowd were welcomed onstage to spit a few bars. A conversation then opened up to the crowd who had questions regarding intellectual property, the importance of networking, and how to secure project placement. The panel encouraged other producers to copyright their work before shopping it out. The three producers explained how doing so will protect the beat-maker in case their work is chosen by an artist they’ve contacted or any who’ve come across their work.
“Go work with everybody. Don’t just work with the Migos because they [are] popping,” Cheeze answered when asked about getting more prominent placements with artists. He continued, “Go find a young artist because one of these days, somebody’s going to pop off.”
Drilling it into the heads of the audience that being at the right place at the right time is all you need, the judges showed that through consistency, their dreams of selling multiple records and executive producing on entire albums are able to come true. In other words, it’s the grind and the openness to work with others that continue to keep their careers going.
