During a recent visit to HOT 97’s Ebro in the Morning, Fat Joe discussed a variety of topics. At one point during the conversation, Joe stated that all Latinos are black.

“Latinos are Black. In Cuba, at one time, there was eight million Cubans. Five million, unfortunately, were slaves. Three million were actual Cubans, and the integrated and had babies” he explained.

He continued to support his point by referencing his own lineage. “Same thing with Puerto Rico when you go to Loíza. You talk about Santeria, that came from the motherland Africa. Sometimes, Latinos may even identify themselves with African and black culture more than Black people. This ain’t no crazy thing. Fat Joe ain’t on crack. He know what he talking ’bout.”

The conversation regarding heritage has been brewing for a while now. Back in June, Cardi explained that she is not Mexican and detailed her background for fans who were confused. “I’m not Mexican at all,” Cardi explained in reference to those who believe she’s Mexican. “I’m West Indian and I’m Dominican. I speak Spanish because I’m Dominican. And it’s like, so what’s the difference between Dominican and Mexican?’ And it’s like, everything!”

She continued, ”People just don’t be understanding s–t,” the Album of the Year winner says. “It’s like, ‘Cardi’s Latin, she’s not Black.’ And it’s like, bro, my features don’t come from…white people f–king, okay?’ And they always wanna race-bait when it comes to me…I have Afro features. ‘Oh, but your parents are light-skinned…all right, but my grandparents aren’t.”

In other Fat Joe-related news, the 49-year-old rapper is working on new music. Back in June, Joe teamed up with Dre and Lil Wayne for the release of his “Pullin” music video.
