Following the announcement of the highest-paid hip hop acts, there are some people who question the validity of Forbes’ list.
While on Twitter, Cardi B and Meek Mill mentioned that the information is incorrect. In addition to that, the Philly rapper stated that Forbes must’ve taken a look at the wrong account. “Where do Forbes be getting they numbers from cause they way off,” Cardi asked her Twitter followers. Meek added, “The Forbes got our accounts f--ked up lol ....”
As for the list, Forbes dubbed Kanye West as the highest-paid hip hop act this year with a total of $150 million pretax income. JAY-Z came in second with a total of $81 million. As for Drake, he has earned $75 million, which allows him to fall right behind the Brooklyn emcee. On the other hand, Meek Mill came in at No. 15 with $21 million. Cardi B, who is the youngest act mentioned, landed at No. 13 with a total of $28 million.
This year marks the first time that Kanye West has found himself at the top. While posting on Twitter a while back, Kim Kardashian West revealed how proud she is of her husband.
“I watch how hard he works as he puts his soul into every idea & product that he creates. It’s of no surprise to anyone who works w Kanye that he has been able to turn millions of $ in debt into a billion-dollar empire in only 4 years - 100% on his own terms while owning it 100%,” Kardashian said on Twitter. “He inspires me every single day and I’m so happy that he is getting the recognition and credit that he deserves. @Forbes,” Kim wrote.
By the end of this year, West’s YEEZY brand is projected to make $1.5 billion in sales. Check out Meek Mill and Cardi B’s reaction to Forbes’ list below.
