Rick Ross and Wesley Snipes will join Eddie Murphy in Coming 2 America, which serves as Paramount’s sequel to the 1988 comedy.

According to Deadline, the film will be directed by Craig Brewer who is known for his work on Hustle & Flow. As for production, Kevin Misher has got that covered. In the original film, Murphy played Akeem, a spoiled prince from a fictional African nation of Zamunda. Throughout the film, Akeem travels to Queens, New York and gets a job at a fast-food restaurant while trying to find a wife.

In the sequel, Akeem will return to America in an effort to find his long-lost son. Snipes will play a new character, General Izzi, who rules a neighboring nation. Ross’ character has yet to be revealed. In a recent interview, the “Money in the Grave” spitter revealed that scenes were being shot in his Atlanta estate.

Respectively, Snipes and Ross are no rookies when it comes to acting. Snipes is known for his roles in Blade, White Men Can’t Jump, New Jack City, Payline and more. Back in June of 2018, Ross starred in Superfly alongside Trevor Jackson and Lex Scott Davis.

In addition to filming, Ross is also focused on his music. Tomorrow (Aug. 9), Ross’ LP, Port of Miami 2, will be released to streaming platforms. In the weeks leading up to the project’s release, Ross dropped records such as “Act a Fool” and “BIG TYME.” For his latest track, “Gold Roses,” which features Drake, Ross spoke on their bond in an interview.

“We do some of the dopest records,” Ross said while speaking on a potential album with Drake. “That bond is genuine. He’s recognized, Grammy-wise, and he deserves that. What I do, I feel the streets deserve that.”

Coming 2 America is scheduled to hit the big screen on Dec. 18, 2020. Congrats to Rick Ross and Wesley Snipes for securing their latest role.
