Yesterday (Aug. 25), “Power” returned to Starz for season six. Although there was a ton of action involved in the season premiere, fans seem to be stuck on the theme song’s remix.

For the past five years, Starz has utilized 50 Cent’s “Big Rich Town,” which features Joe, as the show’s theme song. However, 50 Cent recently tapped on Trey Songz for an uptempo remix. After hearing the mixed reactions, Fif chimed in. The New York rapper explained that he isn’t fond of the criticism. He also stated that Trey did the remix for him as a favor. Towards the end of the video posted to Instagram, Fif jokingly states that if the backlash continues, he might have to switch back to the original.

“Ummm, who told them to remix the theme song? Let this be a one time thing. Change that s–t back by next week #Power #PowerTV,” one fan wrote. “I knew that was trey songz singing the power theme song. They need to bring my boy joe back next episode lol,” another fan added.

Back in June, Fif revealed that the Starz show would not be ending after season six after all. While posting to social media, 50 Cent didn’t provide much reasoning for the backpedaling decision. “I Changed my mind POWER is not going to be over after season 6. This s–t is to good #lecheminduroi #bransoncognac#starzplay,” he wrote as the caption.

Understandably, Fif is proud of everything the show has accomplished throughout the years. This season is expected to run for a total of 15 episodes and is currently in the midst of working on spinoff shows.

“The last 5 seasons of ‘Power’ have been an incredible ride for me and all of our supportive fans,” Fif said previously in a statement. “We are far from over and I am excited to bring you more from the ‘Power’ brand. I am proud that I was able to put a lasting stamp on this chapter with my directorial debut in an episode that features one of the wildest scenes ever on the show.”
