Lil Uzi Vert values education.

On Thursday night (Aug. 22), Lil Uzi was making his way through a department store when a fan asked him for a favor. “Uzi!” the fan began. “What’s good, bruh? Can you pay for my college tuition?” Entertaining the request, Uzi asks the fan, who is identified as Raheel Ahmad, how much his educations costs. The Temple University student informs the Philadelphia rapper that his tuition costs $90,000.

“Ninety grand? I could pay for that,” Uzi says. “But this is the thing, though: If I pay for your college, are you gonna finish college?” Ahmed insisted that he plans on finishing school. Surpringly, Uzi agrees to pay for the student’s tuition as long as he sends proof of his enrollment and transcripts.

“Make sure you show me all of your transcripts—everything. Show me all your papers and everything, and you’ll get 90 thousand from me. I’m serious,” Uzi said. “If you don’t show me, you won’t get 90 grand from me … you gotta show me the proof.”

On that same day, Uzi revealed some of the personal battles he’s been dealing with as of lately. For the past couple of months, Uzi’s grandmother was in the hospital in hopes of treating a brain tumor. Moving forward, Uzi is hopeful that his grandmother will make a full recovery.

While on Twitter, Uzi shared the backstory. “My grandma been in the hospital for MONTHS man she had a tumor over her eye the Doctors removed half of it when she finally woke she had a stroke on her entire left side and cannot move it,” Uzi admitted. “IF YOU DONT KNOW THATS WHO RAISE ME I love my grandma more than Clothes.”

He added, “I’m scared excited happy and sad but mostly thankful. So Today my Grandma is coming home she was in the hospital and rehab for months she cannot walk. She cannot talk all the way but I feel her gettin better by the second.”
