Good news for A$AP Rocky and his fans! According to TMZ, the rapper was just released from jail, as he awaits his verdict in his Swedish case.
As many hip hop fans already know, Rocky was arrested in the European country about a month ago after he and his crew were involved in a fight with two Swedish men, who claimed that Rocky and his friends were the aggressors in the altercation. However, the Harlem artist has proclaimed his innocence since day one by expressing that he never wanted to fight the two men, but things escalated when the men kept following him and his team. Footage of some of the fight would eventually go viral – spreading on social media like wildfire.
President Donald Trump has even admitted on Twitter that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have asked him to intervene, and free Rocky.
Earlier this week, Rocky’s trial finally went underway. On Friday (Aug. 2), there seemed to be a massive breakthrough in the case. “A$AP Rocky got a HUGE assist Friday from two eyewitnesses to the beating that landed him in jail and Swedish criminal court … because both said they were clear — they did NOT see Rocky strike the alleged victim with a bottle,” TMZ reported.
The news outlet continued: “The bottle is the centerpiece of the prosecution’s case. They claim Rocky severely injured the alleged victim by hurling a bottle at him … which they say was excessive force and unjustified. Rocky admitted Thursday he picked up a bottle but denied he ever threw it.”
The judges presiding over Rocky’s case must have heard something that made them begin to change their minds about the ordeal because now – after a month – Rocky, as well as the other two defendants, are free and heading back to the United States. Swedish prosecutors asked for the rapper to remain behind bars because they said Rocky was a flight risk. The judges obviously didn’t agree.
Since his release, Rocky has broken his silence on Instagram. “THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART TO ALL OF MY FANS, FRIENDS AND ANYONE ACROSS THE GLOBE WHO SUPPORTED ME DURING THESE LAST FEW WEEKS, ” the star captioned his post.
“I CANT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW GRATEFUL I AM FOR ALL OF YOU THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DIFFICULT AND HUMBLING EXPERIENCE. I WANT TO THANK THE COURT FOR ALLOWING ME BLADI AND THOTO TO RETURN TO OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF THE LOVE AND SUPPORT.”
