On Saturday (Aug. 17), devastating news hit the net regarding the death of former NFL running back, Cedric Benson. After hearing the unfortunate news, Lil Wayne shared his condolences on social media.

"For #32 Cedrick Benson and his fam. My condolences. Packer 4ever. Love everyday," he wrote to Twitter.

According to CNN, a minivan was trying to cross an intersection when it ran into a motorcycle. Benson and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. A little before his untimely death, Benson posted a photo of a motorcycle on Instagram. "My Saturday evening," he wrote as the caption.

Throughout his career, Benson made memorable strides. Benson was awarded the Doak Walker Award, which is given to the nation's top running back. He also earned All-American honors, back in 2004.

Understandably, Weezy wasn't the only one to comment on Benson's tragic death. "Our condolences to the friends and family of former Bears running back Cedric Benson, our 4th overall Draft pick in 2005 and member of the 2006 NFC Champions team," the Chicago Bears tweeted on Sunday.

Former Bengals running backs coach, Jim Anderson, is also taking Benson's death hard. "Once he bought into our system, he was like a flower. He just blossomed," Anderson said. "He gave us an element we didn't have. We had complementary guys, but Cedric gave us a missing element. He was a good man. He was one of my guys and it hurts. Life is too short."

The tributes continue to roll in. "How special was Cedric Benson in high school? He was the first high schooler EVER to grace the cover of Dave Campbell's Texas Football. To this day, he's the only high school player to get a solo cover. RIP 32," Shehan Jeyarajah wrote.
