At the top of this month, Dave East unleashed his two-song release aptly titled Survival Pacc. The first record was called “Everyday” featuring Atlanta’s own Gunna, while the second record was titled “Wanna Be a G” and features the legendary Max B. Both songs showcased the Harlem rapper’s ability to spit bars laced with vivid storytelling, giving audiences not only something to ride to, but also relate to.

Now, we’re gifted with the lyric video for “Everyday,” presumably holding fans over until the song gets the official visual treatment. The clip has an eerie feel, setting the mood for the rest of the track to unfold. The Def Jam/Mass Appeal Records signee explodes on the opening verse, “I got this shit from the trap / Few baggies, my pen, and my pad (Few baggies) / I done got rich off of rap (Racks) / You throw ’em, we sendin’ ’em back, that shit is a fact.”

The chorus sees Gunna spitting and flexing about the lifestyle he and East both live, risking it all to pursue their rap careers. Both embody a “trenches to riches” mentality, as they reflect on their come up and current success.

Dave East has been booked and busy, recently partnering with notable streetwear brand Diamond Supply Co. The new collaboration features “born broke, die diamond” t-shirts retailing for $36, $99 sweatshirts, and a tracksuit utilizing East’s existing logo ($122 for the jacket, $99 for the pants). Diamond took his signature ‘D’ logo and inserted a patch of the Empire State Building, repping for his home state.

In addition, East will be playing Method Man in the forthcoming Netflix series Wu-Tang: An American Saga. As far as new East music, we will just have to sit back and patiently wait for his forthcoming debut album, Survival, slated to be released sometime this fall.
