Things are getting serious with Nicki Minaj and her beau Kenneth Petty.

Yesterday (July 29), Minaj and her boyfriend obtained their marriage license in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, Minaj and Petty were spotted taking a trip to Bev Hills Courthouse. Witnesses state that they saw the “Megatron” rapper at the marriage license bureau window where she received the paperwork needed to tie the knot.

Interestingly enough, Minaj said that she received her marriage license back in June while speaking on Queen Radio. The New York rapper revealed that she plans on spending the rest of her life with Petty.

“We did get our marriage license,” Minaj said. “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”

The two dated when Minaj was 15 and rekindled their relationship last year. During a Q&A session on Twitter, the Pink Friday rapper revealed that Petty is very protective of her and isn’t impressed by industry antics.

“He won’t even say the word ‘Nicki,’” she wrote on Twitter. “He has called me onika since I was 15 so it’s hard to change that. I wouldn’t date anyone cuz I’m about to be married to my soulmate. But that was the problem, others r infatuated w/Nicki Minaj he DGAF about this industry & is very protective.”

Earlier this month, the 36-year-old rapper was set to hit the stage at the Jeddah World Fest in Saudi Arabia. After updating herself on Saudi Arabia’s laws, Minaj decided to pull out of the controversial concert.

“After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest,” she said to the Associated Press. “While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”

Nicki Minaj has yet to comment or confirm on the updated story regarding her marriage license with Kenneth Petty.
