Back in March, Nipsey Hussle was fatally shot in front of his The Marathon clothing store. Now, the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the slain rapper's connection to gangs.

According to a new report from The New York Times, which was published yesterday night (July 15), the LAPD and the city attorney's office opened an investigation on Hussle before his untimely death. The investigation, which is still ongoing, is looking into Hussle's property, his clothing store, business associates and more to prove a possible connection to gang activity.

Earlier this month, we reported that a representative for Crips LLC, the official company formed on behalf of the gang, issued an apology for attempting to trademark Hussle's famous slogan: "The Marathon Continues."

"There will absolutely be no trademark legal battle between their organization and Blacc Sam, brother of the late Nipsy Hussle," the statement issued reads. "We realize that our actions may have been offensive and we have reached out to his family, respectively Nips sister, Samantha Smith."

Following his untimely death, many have done their best to keep King Nip's memory alive. In a recent interview, Mustard explained that he was working relentlessly with Hussle on a project. He revealed that they both worked on a series of songs prior to his death.

"We never considered not releasing it," Mustard said on whether or not he was hesitant to release the late rapper's work. "We was working on a series of songs...we even had discussed doing our own project together. Nipsey took a lot of time to do his verses. He would give you amazing verses every time, but they took a long time for him to do. This just happened to be one of them."

Nipsey Hussle's team has yet to comment on the reported investigation being conducted by the LAPD.
