Although he is currently facing some legal trouble, YNW Melly appears to be in good spirits.

Yesterday (July 11), Melly appeared in court to defend his name ahead of his upcoming trial. In a post uploaded to Instagram, Melly is seen walking into the courtroom with a smile on his face. In his caption, he reassured his fans that he will be home soon.

“I’ll be home soon. I’m smiling because God is with me – Melly #innocent #icee,” Melly wrote.

Earlier this year, the 20-year-old rapper was hit with a double murder charge for the death of his friends YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy. Police believe that the rapper and his associate, Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry, staged the shooting to make it look like a drive-by. Following the charges, Melly spent five months in jail. If Melly is found guilty, the Florida rapper could face the death penalty.

YNW Sakchaser’s family told TMZ that they will support the state’s decision regarding the case. “If the state of Florida feels the death penalty is warranted in this case then we 100 percent fully support it. YNW Melly should feel the exact fear and panic he so viciously and consciously brought upon his innocent victims,” a rep for the family attorney said.

Before turning himself in, Melly thanked his fans for their support and reassured them that God is on his side. “To all my fans and supporters … I want you guys to know I love you and appreciate every single one of y’all, a couple months ago I lost my two brothers by violence and now the system want to find justice.. unfortunately a lot of rumors and lies are being said but no worries god is with me,” he wrote on Instagram.

Since his arrest, many have offered their support including Atlanta rapper Future. For his 20th birthday, Future honored his friend with a post on Instagram. “Free my lil brother Melly,” Future wrote on his Instagram story.
